Hello, friends! I'm so happy you're here! With the launch of my new website, some of you may have seen the word "lifestyle" floating around, and you may be wondering what exactly that means for you. I will be sharing some beautiful lifestyle sessions soon, but in the meantime here is a brief explanation!
What is the difference between traditional portraits and lifestyle photography?
The aim of portrait photography is to photograph a person or group of people in a way that shows their personality and emotion. For these types of sessions, we typically choose a special location, get a little bit dressed up, and pose to look our best. These are the kinds of photos we hang on our walls, send to our grandparents, or use to celebrate a big life event.
I absolutely love photographing traditional portraits and believe they serve a wonderful purpose. However, if you are looking for something a little different, consider a lifestyle session!
The main goal of lifestyle photography is to capture the story. It is there to capture your personality, emotions, interactions with loved ones, and all of the tiny but spectacular displays of joy and love that happen in a day. These sessions happen wherever your life happens, and these photos tend to be the ones you hold a little closer to your heart. You may even tuck them away in a special album for your children, grand-children, and great-grand children to marvel over someday. Lifestyle photography can certainly be used to capture and celebrate the big events, but it has a knack for celebrating the little ones too. That's part of why I love it so much!
